Jaime Hayon —written without an accent, as he likes it— is today a celebrity. The youngest Spanish designer with the greatest international recognition. He is based in London and regularly features in the press. He has achieved fame because he has talent, his own style and the enterprise to embody his projects with quality. As things used to be. He often seeks his inspiration in the past, and in craftsmen, who abounded in other times, he finds the necessary helpers to produce his designs with care. This is one of his characteristic signs, the other has to be found in the invisible frontier which separates design from art, a place much travelled in recent years and where Hayon is building his own universe in which there is room for everything —drawings, toys, shoes, things, furniture and interiors— and where nothing generates indifference. Some adore him and others —fewer and fewer— criticise him. For this reason BD did well to back this creator from Madrid at the start of his career. His easy chair with a hood and the cabinet with multiple legs —Multileg— from the Showtime collection have become icons of contemporary design. They are functional pieces of furniture and they are also beautiful. In Showtime plastics coexist with quilted upholstery, the glossiness of lacquered wood and the best ceramic traditions. Classicism and modernity. The contrasts and sophistication which lend personality to Jaime Hayon’s work are represented in this extensive collection which ranges from vases to chairs. Now it is completed with a new piece which will also satisfy those who have more classical tastes: The Lounger. An elegant and comfortable wing chair. With one-colour finishes and optional footrest.
