The Bd Board This is the Bd Board, which saw the incorporation in 2008 of publicist Lluís Bassat, the first from the left in the picture. He is followed clockwise by Cristian Cirici, Lluís Clotet, Lluís Simon, Jordi Arnau (general Manager), Mireia Riera, Ramón Úbeda (Art Director) and Oscar Tusquets. What is extraordinary, besides the presence of entrepreneurs of the stature of Simon and Bassat, is that it still numbers the members of Studi Per (with just Pep Bonet missing) who founded the company in 1972. Cirici, Clotet, Tusquets and Mireia Riera continue to be four friends who have been meeting once a month for thirty-something years to nurture the company with their advice. There cannot be another case like it anywhere in the world. Neither is Bd a company like any other as it was created out of a blend of need and fun. Design did not exist in the Spain of the 1970s, and those young people from Studi Per teamed up with the owner of their favourite bar, Oriol Regás, to create Bocaccio design. And they still have the same enthusiasm as they had in those days. All that has changed is the original meaning of the two letters, as today Bd stands for Barcelona Design.
