The B chair designed by Konstantin Grcic for BD Barcelona Design has won the Delta de Plata award from ADIFAD in the 2011 edition of these awards, which are the most prestigious ones awarded in Spain in this category. These awards have been open for just a short time to all international production that is marketed in our country, not just Spanish production, so we are even more proud of this distinction, which comes on top of the one earned by Table B in 2009, also designed by Grcic for BD and awarded with a Delta de Plata from ADIFAD. This year the jury was chaired by Dejan Sudjik, the director of the London Design Museum, and its members included the legendary Gjis Bakker, co- founder of Droog Design. This was the 34th international edition of the competition for best product design, organised by the Association of Designers of the FAD, on the date when this institution is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary. For BD, and in particular for the Extrusions collection designed by Konstantin Grcic, a collection that includes this chair and its namesake table, 2011 is turning out to be a memorable year. In addition to the Spanish award, the “Red Dot Design Best of the Best” award was also given to Table B in Germany. We hope that the acknowledgements don’t stop here: next year BD will present Big Table B, a wider version of the table – 150 cm – which is five meters long and is supported on two lightweight wood legs.
