Furnishing and animating its surroundings, The Cajones Lamp expresses Dalí’s art with a unique, creative simplicity.
The design of the Cajones Lamp was drawn by Dalí in 1937 for Jean Michel Frank. Oscar Tusquets and Robert Descharnes produced a hand-carved piece with little drawers at the lamp’s base. In 2009, BD commemorated the 20th Anniversary of the death of Salvador Dali with a limited-edition ‘black label’ series of his collection.
Reminiscent of his sculpture, Venus de Milo with Drawers (1936), the lamp features peculiar drawer fittings that move upwards and decrease in size before meeting the link of crutches connecting the base and lamp fitting. The handmade lampshade is in black chiffon. Its draped body and folds create an intimate light that illuminates its surroundings and the carved black stained and varnished lime-wood structure...
