The Varius chair has had different versions, one very successful being the auditorium version, first installed during the renovation of the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. It seems as if it has been there all its life. The seat has a Helmholtz resonator at its bottom, which allows it, when raised, to provide the same level of absorption as a person, so the reverberation time of the room is hardly affected when it is not full. This auditorium model has been installed in more than 50 locations in Spain, including the Senate’s hearing room.
