Originally designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926) for the dining room of Casa Batlló (1904-1906), one of his most iconic works and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Batlló Chair embodies the essence of Modernisme. Its sweeping curves and sculptural form seamlessly merge aesthetics with functionality. Charged with Gaudí’s artistic energy, this piece is an ode to craftsmanship, creativity, and nature. BD Barcelona was the first company to reproduce and commercialize the Antoni Gaudí admired original designs.

CASA VALLE, founded by Giancarlo Valle and Jane Keltner de Valle, brings Gaudí’s legacy to New York, sharing Modernisme’s appreciation for organic forms, symbolism, meticulous craftsmanship, and noble materials. Their reinterpretation in ebony stain accentuates the chair’s fluidity and elegance. The dark, refined finish enhances its naturalistic contours, blending tradition with modernity.
Each chair is an exact reproduction of the original, handcrafted using the same methods and materials. A certificate signed by the director of the Gaudí Cathedra guarantees authenticity. The ergonomic backrest reflects Gaudí’s focus on comfort, while its precise detailing and artisanal execution make it a timeless design piece. This limited edition honors Gaudí’s artistic and architectural genius while pushing creative boundaries.

“Gaudí’s work and brand of modernism feels incredibly relevant today. We wanted to retell this rich story in the context of what is happening now, and connect it to the energy and ideas coming out of New York and what could come next.”
