Having grown up within this house, Bergnes approached the renovation with intimate knowledge of the spaces, yet also with the measured precision and patience that such a place demanded.

‘The idea was to slow down, step back and observe what the place needed – to make an unobtrusive intervention that would pass almost unnoticed and cede prominence to its surroundings.’

This approach guided the entire project. The interiors were redone with careful discipline. Inherited pieces, local furniture, and Catalan designs from different eras sit together naturally, without conflict. The materials are simple: limewashed walls, stone floors, and Macael marble. Together, they make the house feel like a building outside of time, historic and contemporary at the same time.
